The Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste

You need to know today that The Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste and…

here is in this blog I want to teach from my heart of what God is saying to you right now through His word.

God has a way. God has a way of confirming His word. God has a way of confirming your direction and if you stay in prayer and study to know the Lord, He’ll give you what you need concerning your mind.

In Luke 12:48b (KJV) it reads:
…..For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Notice as it says, “where much is given, much is required”

In 2nd Timothy 1:7 (KJV) it reads:
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Take note of this, “A Sound Mind”

The Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste

See if you recognize these common phrases that a lot of people unknowingly use:

  • You might ask someone, “Would you mind if I sit here?” and what would most people say in response  “I don’t mind” or “I do mind”
  • How about “That guy is kind a Absent Minded”
  • “Oh, Child please. Don’t pay them no mind”(don’t pay them any mind)
  • “I’m determined to go on. I got my mind made up”
  • We use the phrase, “Narrow Minded” or “a one track mind”

When I was a child living in Florida I remember that I got disciplined everyday for a week for lying about stuff.  I was lying everyday for NO reason and I was lying about big things.

Mamma said, “Oh, You’re gonna mind me!” and I got in trouble every day for a solid week.

On the last day, something clicked in my mind and I told my mamma, “I’m tired of getting disciplined.” I stopped lying about stuff and started telling the truth.

My mother looked at me and said, “O.K.” and knew that something had happened.

Over the years she began to tell me some things, like:

  • “Son, You need to get your mind right”
  • “As you go through life and make good decisions, you’ll realize that whatever you put your mind to…you can do it”
  • “As you go through life you need to be mindful of your surroundings”
  • “Keep these lessons in your sights son, because Out of sight, out of mind”
  • “These things will help you to have the right State of mind”

These are Lessons from Mamma

The Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste

In a book by Dr. Fred Childs, titled “Are you ready for your healing”, he wrote:

The following are all states of mind

Peace, happiness, joy, gladness, excitement, purpose, willpower, determination, courage, tenacity, perseverance, confidence, responsibility, trustworthy.

He went on to write:

The following are also states of mind

fear, doubt, worry, misery, dread, irresponsibility, lack of confidence, lack of willpower, sensing constant disaster

In the book of Psalms chapter 119:73( contemporary English version) it reads:
“You created me and put me together. Make me wise enough to learn what you have commanded”

It seems to me (in my opinion) that we have been tricked into believing that there is little validity in the importance of the mind which God has created and the battle that is waged over for our souls.

The soul is Our Mind, Will and Emotions

We have been tricked so much so, that we cannot engage our minds in what God has established concerning the Kingdom of God.

This is due to a lack of knowledge.

In the book of Hosea 4:6 it says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:”

We need to know that there is a battle going on and the battle is in your mind.

The attack of the enemy is against your mind and it is for a reason. If he can control the direction of your mind, he can control you and we are no use in the Kingdom of God.

The enemy wants to keep us powerless

The Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste

In 2nd Timothy 1:7(AMPC amplified bible classic edition) it says:
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

  1. God has given us Power to become
  2. God has given us discipline, self-control
  3. God has given us Love, calm and a well-balanced mind

That is what God has given us.

I will be continuing this series on The Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste in my upcoming blogs, or you don’t have to wait and you can get the entirety of the message recorded live in front of a mass congregation in Stockton, Ca. by clicking the video.

What I want you to do is study these scriptures, apply them to your mind and be an example of what God has given you.

God bless
